The USS Oriskany was recently sunk off the coast of Pensacola, Florida in 17th May 2006 and is the biggest purposely sunk wreck and one of only two aircraft carriers in the world that can be dived. The 911ft American aircraft carrier already has lots of local marine life taking up home. Sharks and mata rays have already been sighted.
Barefoot have already been out to dive this great new wreck and have first hand knowledge of this exciting new destination.
The wreck will suit enthusiasts and technical divers alike, around Pensacola local reefs and smaller wrecks are also teeming with life. This makes a great group trip destination for
wreckies. Only suitable for experienced divers with PADI Advanced or BSAC Sports.
The article describing the Barefoot Traveller trip to dive the Oriskany only 14 days after it was sunk is one of the cover stories of DIVER magazine, which is available in the shops now.
